Puerto Galera

Easter weekend is a big deal here in the Philippines, and we're afforded a 4-day weekend. With Lee visiting us ('GG' to the kids), we drove down to the port of Batangas and took a ferry across the water to the island of Mindoro for a long weekend stay in Puerto Galera. Being that it was Easter weekend and everyone got it off, the port was a crush of humanity that tested our resolve to make the trip. A dead car battery also gave us pause, but in the end we got on the ferry and made it across the water.

(we needed this beer after our ordeal at the port)

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a gaggle of young boys swimming at the dock.

The resort we stayed at was nice if a little rough around the edges. The nice thing was that it was far away from the hot spots, so it was quiet and picturesque. There was also a lot of hammock time.

Shane lounged around the grounds in just a towel.

Our beach was also nice if a little rocky. At least the rocks were perfect skipping stones.

One of the aforementioned hot spots is White Beach, a beautiful strip of public beach that we spent a lovely afternoon and evening at. Eliana had a great night climb on the rocks by the beach.

Our ride home was a little smoother logistically but we caught a smaller, faster boat which was far from smoother in transit.
